마돈나는 후배 복이 터진 것 같다. 일단 위켄드와 함께 한 노래="Popular"는 이번 주에 발매됐는데 기대 이상이다. 그리고 다음 주에는 마돈나와 샘 스미스가 함께 한 신곡="Vulgar"도 발매될 예정이다. 사실 나는 '샘 스미스와 마돈나의 콜라보 카더라'가 처음 돌았을 때 샘 스미스가 최근 진행되고 있는 그의 콘서트 투어에서 부르고 있는 마돈나의 노래="Human Nature"의 듀엣 버전이나 내지 않을까 했는데, 신곡을 낸다고 해서 좀 놀랐다. 아래는 마돈나가 공개한 "Vulgar"의 홍보 사진인데 Sam Smith의 S와 Madonna의 M을 마돈나스럽게(=천박하고 SSANG스럽게) 엮어 버린 것 같다.

♬금주의 왜 욕 먹은걸까? : 시아

다른 글들에서 다루었지만 시아는 2021년에 개봉한 '영화 Music'을 단독으로 감독하고 대본과 제작은 공동으로 했다. 그런데 자폐아를 다룬 이 영화는 개봉 전부터 '자폐아 캐릭터에 왜 자폐증에 걸린 배우를 캐스팅하지 않았냐?',부터 시작해서 온갖 욕을 다 먹었다. 개봉 후에도 여론은 반전되지 않았고, 오히려 영화 속에서 묘사되는 '자폐아 치료법'은 이미 업계에서 퇴출된 위험한 방법이라며 추가로 욕을 먹었다. 결국 이 영화는 상업적으로도 폭망했다. 또한 2021년에 열린 최악의 영화와 최고의 발연기에 시상을 하는 '골든 라즈베리 시상식'에서 3개 부분을 수상했는데, 수상에 성공한 3개 부분 중 하나는 최악의 감독상=시아...

​시아는 굉장한 열의를 가지고 '영화 Music'을 만든 걸로 보인다. 하지만 영화는 실패했고, 시아는 데뷔 후 최고로 욕을 많이 먹었다. 그래서 시아의 '영화 Music'은 '음악으로 유명세와 성공을 거둔 사람들'은 영화는 절대 하면 안 된다,라는 교훈을 잘 보여주는 대표적인 사례들 중 하나 같다. ​
